Ti vetrovi potiskajo toplo povr\u0161insko vodo proti zahodnemu delu oceana, torej proti Aziji in Avstraliji. Ker se topla voda pomakne proti zahodu, se ob obalah Ju\u017ene Amerike dvigne hladna voda iz globin, kar mo\u010dno ohladi povr\u0161je morja v vzhodnem Pacifiku.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Z ni\u017ejo temperaturo morja se zmanj\u0161a izhlapevanje in koli\u010dina vlage v zraku, zato nad vzhodnim Pacifikom prevladuje suho vreme. Nasprotno pa se v zahodnem delu oceana pove\u010da izhlapevanje, kar prina\u0161a pogostej\u0161e padavine in poplave v Avstraliji in jugovzhodni Aziji, medtem ko ju\u017enoameri\u0161ke obale do\u017eivljajo su\u0161e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Del naravnega cikla ENSO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Ni\u00f1a je hladna faza naravnega cikla ENSO (El Ni\u00f1o\u2013Southern Oscillation), v katerem se izmenjujeta toplej\u0161a faza El Ni\u00f1o in nevtralno stanje. Prehodi med fazami niso redni \u2013 na njihov pojav vplivajo zapletene oceanografske in atmosferske spremembe, ki jih je te\u017eko napovedati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>V \u010dasu La Ni\u00f1e ocean spro\u0161\u010da manj toplote v ozra\u010dje, zato povpre\u010dna globalna temperatura obi\u010dajno za\u010dasno pade za nekaj desetink stopinje Celzija. Statisti\u010dno gledano La Ni\u00f1a nekoliko pove\u010da verjetnost hladnej\u0161ih zim, a vpliv ni zelo izrazit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Vremenski ekstremi in prihodnost<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tako El Ni\u00f1o kot La Ni\u00f1a prina\u0161ata vremenske ekstreme, vendar se ti med seboj razlikujejo. El Ni\u00f1o obi\u010dajno povzro\u010di ve\u010d globalno zaznavnih ekstremov v ve\u010d regijah hkrati. Medtem La Ni\u00f1a prina\u0161a dolgotrajnej\u0161e, a regionalno omejene ekstremne dogodke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Podnebne spremembe vplivajo tudi na te naravne cikle. Spremenjeni zra\u010dni tokovi in toplej\u0161i oceani bi lahko v prihodnje povzro\u010dili, da bodo pojavi La Ni\u00f1e in El Ni\u00f1a pogostej\u0161i in intenzivnej\u0161i.
